Green Queen Flowering Basil

Annual green basil, a staple in many kitchen gardens has long been overlooked as an ornamental flower. Another multifunctional winner, the green flowering spikes add interest and fragrance to a cottage garden bouquet. Strip the bottom leaves off for salads or pesto and make use of the flower spikes for fragrancing your bathroom and home.

Sow in early spring after the last frost, or 6 weeks before last frost date, inside and in trays.
 
Harvest tip! Cut in the morning or early evening when the leaves are not wilted, and dip into just boiled water for 10 seconds and then straight into cool water, to improve vase life and hydrate the stems.
